Happy Fourth of July, all! Hope you have a great day celebrating our 250th anniversary.
This update is going to be short due to the lack of events and the more singular focus on East of the Sun, West of the Moon. Let’s dive in:
Upcoming Events in July:
This weekend I’m out at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds for the County Fair. I’m in the big white tent on the south side of the grounds. The last day of the fair is today and it sounds like a lot of the movement is in the morning before the rodeo starts at 1pm and then everyone leaves to claim beachfront real estate for the fireworks show.
Following that, I’ll be at the HNB Street Market in downtown Lebanon on July 11th. I discovered this event by accident last year after I wandered downtown for something and saw all the street closed. Very excited to see how this goes after seeing the amount of people walking around last year. They gave me a booth on Grant Street, so I’m on the southern end of the event. A few of my author friends will be there as well, so it should be a great time.
The next weekend (Friday and Saturday), I’m at the Linn County Fair with the same arrangement as the Lincoln County Fair. I don’t yet know the exact location of the Open Class Author Table, so keep an eye out on social media for that announcement.
Looking ahead to August, the first full weekend of the month is the Crook County Fair. I’ve gone from just starting events last year to getting opportunities to table at 3 county fairs. Very much excited to be at this event. I will be there all four days (August 5-8). Will also have an author friend there as well (she let me know about it last year and it’s been on my radar ever since).
Writing Life:
East of the Sun, West of the Moon had a lot of progress made in the rewrite! I’ve retouched roughly half of the opening act over the last month. Only issue that is hindering progress is the persistent one. Each run at the opening chapters is better than the last, but it still feels lacking. I will keep beating my head against the wall until I get Ingrid’s story right, but it is taking longer than I ever expected.
I had hoped to publish three books this year. My thought was that ESWM would cooperate after I published Alone Among Stars. Clearly that hasn’t been the case. There are a few Wraith-length stories I’ve been toying with which may be capable of filling that third release goal, but that will depend on how July goes with ESWM. I’ll let you know in August.
Speaking of Wraith, I met a audiobook producer back at Beaver State Comic Con and we have plans to put Wraith into audiobook form! We expect to spend the weeks between the Linn and Crook County Fairs getting it ready. I will let you all know when it’s ready.
That’ll be it for this month. Time to rest and get ESWM rewritten.
Until next time. Take care, and may God bless you in the days ahead.
